HEALTH & FITNESS:
The YMCA of the Coosa Valley offers one of the premier fitness facilities in northeast Alabama. With a full gym upstairs, the Y offers state-of-the-art equipment for all of our members. Working out in the upstairs gym is a treat to all with a full-wall window view overlooking the Coosa River as you workout.
YMCA fitness attendants are on duty during peak hours to assist with your fitness needs. New members are offered a free 30-minute wellness orientation by our trained staff who will show you ways to improve your workouts.
Equipment & Facilities:
Our fully equipped fitness center houses a variety of work-out options including many treadmills, stationary bikes, ellipticals, a free weights section, and state-of-the-art cybex machines.
We offer personalized instruction that focuses on achieving realistic goals. Whether you are an athlete or have never exercised before, a Y personal trainer will design individualized workout sessions that cater to your current fitness level and experience.
Package A: 10 half hour sessions = $200
Package B: 5 full hour sessions = $175
Package C: 10 full hour sessions = $300
Package D: (2 member group) 10 full hour sessions = $500
Meet Our Trainers:
Melia West (Female )
Melia has been a student of health and fitness for the past 24 years. She has been a trainer and a teacher of fitness since 2003. She has been teaching at the YMCA of the Coosa Valley Gadsden location since 2006. Melia has experience in the following fitness area: cardiovascular conditioning, flexibility, strength training, water fitness, water classes for babies and tots, swim lesson coordinator, senior adult fitness, and special concerns (arthritis).
Angie Thomas (Female )
Angie has been involved with the YMCA since January 2000 while still a student in college. At this time she was completing a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science and Wellness at Jacksonville State University. She became an employee of the YMCA of the Coosa Valley soon after graduating. She is now the Fitness Center Coordinator as well as a certified personal trainer.
Elizabeth (Beth) Ragsdale Howard
Beth has extensive experience with training in swimming, biking, running and lifting weights.
GROUP FITNESS CLASSES
We offer more daily group exercise opportunities than any other fitness facility in town all included in your membership rate. On any given day we may have as many as 12 classes offered while we are open. Come visit our skilled instructors as they teach Yoga, Spin, Zumba, Water Aerobics, and much more. STEAM AND SAUNA
Our facility offers a steam/sauna room for members to enjoy after a great workout! The sauna room is regularly cleaned and maintained by our Y staff. To use the steam/sauna room, stop by the front desk to sign out a key to the door
